pairs

One of the moms in my twins' mom group posted this poem and I wanted to share it... It is so sweet:)

So many good things come in pairs, like ears and socks and panda bears.
But best of all are sets of twins, with extra laughter, double grins.
There's so much fun in having two, with twice as many points of view.
So much alike, forever linked, and yet they're also quite distinct.
They share a birthday and a name, but moods and tempers aren't the same.
Although at times they may dispute, their loyalty is absolute.
From days of youth till life is done, it's one for both and both for one.
We're all quite novel and precise, but special folks, GOD MADE TWICE

The strangest thing

Ohmigosh, the strangest thing happened this morning that has me freaked out. At about 5 this morning, I was awakened by the sound of one of Greyson and Aidan's toys going off by itself! It is this little scooter/bike thing that has music and a siren and all sorts of buttons. Anyway, we are all asleep and this toy is in the living room. It started making the sounds all by itself. I repeat, it went off by itself. Rob is a heavy sleeper, so I woke him so he could listen to this thing going off ALL BY ITSELF. He thinks nothing of it and goes back to sleep. I get out of bed and go in the livng room and pick up the scooter and put it outside on the deck. It continued to make the noise... Needless to say, I had a hard time getting back to sleep. Am I in Amityville?

OLG Bazaar

Today we went to the Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church annual bazaar. We had a great time. It was so neat to see old friends again. The food was delicious and the booths were fun as well as the activities. (even though Greyson and Aidan are a trite too young to fully enjoy the games and face painting). It was so much fun...

Since we were in Port Lavaca this weekend, I decided to pay a visit to Arnold and Mondy at Headquarters to get Aidan a haircut. (this is his 3rd haircut) Mondy did a great job on him last time and he didn't cry and was a big boy and a trooper. This time we weren't so lucky. Arnold cut his hair this time and he screamed and cried the whole time. His grandpa was there with him and even that wouldn't calm him down. I don't understand why it went so well last time and this time he was a little toot. (but a cute little toot:) Mercifully, it was over quick and Aidan was back to his old self as soon as he was out of the barber's chair. I hope the haircut tantrum isn't going to be a re-occurence... Pictures forthcoming soon:)

so much to do...

I've probably mentioned this before, but I can't believe how quickly the summer went. I've been trying to decide on costumes for Greyson and Aidan. Last weekend we looked around at Gymboree and all they had were cowboys, fairies, and bee costumes. I haven't checked at Childrens Place yet. I've looked around on line and there are some really cute Star Wars costumes. I was thinking maybe Greyson could be Princess Leia and Aidan as Yoda. I had originally wanted Greyson to be a flapper from the 20s, but all the costumes I've found aren't the "right" color. I wanted black with red, all I've been able to find pink. I'm certainly no expert on that particular era, but when I picture flappers, I see black and red. I'll keep looking...

I've also been working on ideas for their birthday party. I can't believe they'll be two in December! Last year we had Mickey and Minnie Mouse theme. I was having a hard time with themes because I wanted neutrality as far as the gender goes. But, my friend Julie gave me the best idea about having two themes! That is perfect, two themes. Thanks Julie! I found a neat website for birthday party planning and have settled on the themes. (The site is http://birthdayexpress.com) For Greyson, her theme will be the pink poodles and Aidan is having John Deere. Greyson is crazy about dogs and she loves saying "puppy, puppy, puppy" and Aidan is into trucks. Big trucks, small trucks, it doesn't matter, he just loves trucks.

I'm also in the process of transitioning their wardrobe to fall/winter clothes. That's always a sad thing for me, because I see how much they've grown and it's like I have a hard time letting go of the clothes they can't wear anymore.

In other news, Aidan has been getting over his cough/cold. He still has a slight cough at night, but he's better. I'm glad he's no longer feverish and can breathe better. It's horrible when your kiddos are sick, let me tell you. Greyson is doing great, having fun with our doxie and tormenting Aidan. Their little fights are quite frequent and always over toys. I hope the fighting/bickering stops but word on the street is that they don't outgrow that till waaaaay later... Yikes!

More pics...

Here are some new pictures from our last trip down to Port Lavaca. We had a really nice time at our evening beach cookout. Greyson and Aidan had fun watching the water and enjoyed the outdoor ambiance. I'm experimenting with black and white photography so not all the pictures came out so great, but not bad for a first try...

The picture of Aidan on his bike and in the pool were taken in our backyard. G&A had lots of fun this summer in their pool as well as playing with the waterhose. :)
