twin stuff
Being a mom to twins, I get asked all kinds of questions. Anything from "are they identical?" to "do twins run in your family?" I have gotten used to it and I figure, eh, comes with the territory. Even the stupid questions. One funny incident that sticks out in my mind is when a cashier at Wal Mart asked me if they were identical. Uh, well, no. One's a boy and one's a girl. (I don't cross dress my children, I always dress them like a boy and a girl) Then she said, "how do you tell them apart?" Uh, again, one's a boy and one's a girl. That helps me tell them apart in case I forget who's who. Yikes, I could probably write a book on all the comments and questions we've gotten. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind questions, comments, etc, but when they are flat out ignorant like that, it's annoying. Another thing that bothers me is when people say, wow, you've got your hands full! To that, I answer if you think my hands are full, you should see my heart. I also get, "did you know your were having twins?" Well, after numerous sonograms, yeah, I was fully aware of this fact. Also, if I had a nickel for every time I get asked "are they twins?" Greyson and Aidan's college tuition would be paid in full. Double stroller, pretty close in size...hmm. Logic people. One time I even got "better you than me." Well, God obviously thought the same, so Ha! Ok, I'm done venting. (for now) I found a really great website that is devoted to twins items and I found a neat mouse pad that I really want. It has the infamous twin questions on there and it has a touch of sarcasm... but I like. :)
1. No they are not identical.
2. Yes I can tell them apart.
3. Yes my hands are full, but my heart is overflowing.
4. Yes twins do run in my family. They run all over the place.
5. I'm glad they're mine and not yours too.
6. Yes they are natural. What's an artifiicial twin anyway?

Update

Just wanted to do a quick update... We're all doing fine, just staying busy and trying to beat the incredible heat we've been having. Days and days of triple digit temps is a bit too hot for me. I'm used to the south Texas heat-humid and hot. This North Texas heat is dry and hot... But, fall is approaching rapidly and will bring relief. Wow, I cannot believe how quickly the time is passing. Greyson and Aidan are growing up so fast! I wish I could freeze time sometimes... They're not "little babies" anymore. *tear* This toddler phase is certainly interesting and never a dull moment in the Barnes house. These kiddos are on the go non stop. They definitely keep mommy and daddy on their toes. It's hard to believe they'll be two years old in December. I'm having a hard time trying to pick out a birthday party theme. Last year it was Mickey and Minne. It's hard because, well, one's a boy and one's a girl. Coming up with something "neutral" is challenging. I've got some time to think about it, but I'm open to suggestions.
Rob will be starting classes again in a couple of weeks. The summer semester went by fast. He did really well on his finals and is looking forward to putting another year behind him. (i am too:) We're going to be spending some time in Port Lavaca this weekend and visit our families. I'm looking forward to it, but not the loooong drive. Packing and preparing for a trip with two toddler and a dachshund in tow is quite a chore, let me tell you. Inevitably, I will forget something. lol But, I am looking forward to seeing our family. I still have some film to develop and as soon as I do, more pics... I have to remember to update more often. As always, much love to all of you!
